Evidence serves as the primary basis for the audit findings and the opinion expressed by the auditor, relying heavily on the auditor’s experience and professional judgment. These pieces of evidence must be free from personal biases of their gatherers.

Furthermore, the evidence must be sufficient and appropriate to be relied upon. Audit does not solely rely on examining financial information but also includes reviewing the information system within the entity in general. It is essential to evaluate the results of economic activities and events in accordance with internationally recognized audit standards adopted in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Finally, the auditor prepares an audit report, which is the primary means of communicating the findings to interested parties. The auditor is an individual (or several individuals) performing the audit process, usually the engagement partner or other engagement team members. They possess practical experience in auditing, a reasonable understanding of audit methodologies, audit standards, and legal and regulatory requirements applicable. Additionally, they understand the working environment of the entity, as well as audit and financial reporting issues relevant to the industry to which the entity belongs.
